Terrapin Properties ranks #27 among Chicago top 50 builders

Cambridge shattered the sales ceiling significantly with 2,349 units of housing sold, up from 1,581 in 2004. This was the first time a builder even got close to the 2,000 mark. The value of their homes closed last year was $516.6 million, up about $69.5 million over 2004, when they were also No. 1.

The value of all of the homes closed by the Top 10 builders in 2005 was $3.620 billion, up by more than $420 million over 2004.

Pulte Homes was estimated to be in second place with approximately $450 million for about 1,500 homes closed under that brand name. Lakewood Homes moved into third place last year with closings on several major developments that helped bring in $402.6 million, up from $356.2 in 2004.

The others in the top ranks were returning leaders from 2004 with the exception of Magellan Development Group, which advanced to 10th on the basis of its strong sales in Lakeshore East, on the Chicago River and Lake Shore Drive.
