Remington Plaza
Arlington Heights, Illinois
Designed by Sherwin J. Braun, AIA (Braun Skiba, Ltd.)
This center occupies a site behind the crest of a hill on one of the busiest roads in the suburban Chicago area. It required a tall and colorful presence to overcome its poor visibility. A large flag topped clock tower was developed along the street frontage to command attention. The interior corner and ends of the "L" shaped center were raised with sawtooth walls and canopies to give the anchor tenants more visibility, while providing a smooth transition between uses. Blue striped awnings are used to add color and scale reflective of traditional shop-front awnings.
